Argentina's Ministry of Justice Verifies Judicial Candidates

The Ministry of Justice of Argentina has announced the start of a process to verify and update requirements to cover hundreds of vacant positions in the judiciary. As part of this measure, the situation of candidates included in the shortlists for 200 judge positions, 72 public defender positions, and 65 prosecutor positions will be reviewed. The objective is to enable the submission of the corresponding lists for their consideration. As part of the procedure, the government will request the National Reincidence Registry to update the criminal records of the candidates in the shortlists. This body is in charge of centralizing information on criminal proceedings nationwide and certifying the existence or absence of a criminal record. Additionally, it will be verified that the candidates have correctly declared their assets and comply with their tax and social security obligations with the Customs Revenue and Control Agency.
